Felix was two that Christmas
He was just your average boy
Getting into mounds of mischief
While playing with all his toys
He was awestruck by the lighting
That was on the family tree
And he found the sight inviting
For a night of revelry.
Felix scaled a gift for traction
One that was tied with a bow
Worried not of the reaction
That would come from those below
When the sound of crashing ornaments
Could be heard from wall to wall
At the height of his true merriment
As Felix chose to ‘deck the halls’.
Sure enough, the tree was swaying
When Felix lunged, landing mid-tree
Soon after, nerves were fraying
When he ignored his owner’s plea
“Felix Navidad, this instant,
Disembark from your high perch...
Or you’ll lead a life of torment
That will leave you in a lurch!”
Felix Navidad was tired
When his owner’s speech was through
And while once, he was inspired
He bid the fir tree adieu
To collapse in a small bundle
On the family welcome mat
Underneath the ladder’s rundle
To resume life as a cat!
