The Music of Your Time

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem to honor the spirit of the Radio DJ.

Poem Artwork

You are the music of your time
You are the melody
Found in each sacred verse of rhyme
And every harmony
You are the notes upon the page
The bars, pitches, and chords
In every love song of this age
Our memory records.

You are the dreams that have no end
And bonds that never break
You speak of love, of faith, and friends
In every breath you take
You touch the heart of those who need
A chance to laugh or cry
You are a special gift, indeed
Whose soul shall never die.

You are the lyrics of your day
The rhythm and the tone
Found deep within each song you play
Others shall call their own
You may not write the words of prose
To fill each verse of rhyme
But, each weekday, your spirit shows
The music of your time.

If it weren't for DJs I'd be music illiterate. Come to think of it--I still am. ;-)

Such a wonderful tribute to a slowly dying breed as canned music and prerecorded announcments capture the airwaves it is sad to think that characters like the Wolfman will not be their for our future generations.

Jill this is a splendid tribute poem, to music and those who play it. We really don't give enough credit to the DJ.We take them for granted. I'm glad you helped us to be more appreciative of them.

Love,
Eileen
