A small, yet precious crystal rose
Resides upon her hutch
A memory of distant prose
And her late husband’s touch
This symbol of devotion
An emblem, unsurpassed
Still stirs deeper emotion
Though many years have passed.
The rose, in her bereavement
Beheld a special bond
A sense of life’s achievement
In this time and beyond
Although, their time was cherished
And days seemed far too few
His love had never perished
For in the rose ‘twas true .
Those petals, etched in crystal
Held memories of gold
From stem to leaf to pistil
A storied love, untold
His rose gave her a reason
To face the road ahead
Just as the winter season
When he asked her to wed.
