He placed a palm print in the sand;
a mark for what had been
Then, stood upon the rocky strand;
missing his dearest, Lynn.
To him, she had been fire and rain;
life at its very best
Without her, he succumbed to pain;
more than he could digest.
They met as springtime flowers grew
and seagulls filled the air
He had not seen two eyes as blue;
all he could do was stare.
So certain he would never be
the one she chose to love
He fell upon his smitten knee
and asked the Lord above.
For months, he sat upon the sand
and waited for a sign
That Lynn was meant to take his hand,
by love’s precious design.
One night, as shadows touched the sea;
the purpose for his life
Occurred when common destiny
led Lynn to be his wife.
The two walked down life’s winding
trail, together, arm in arm
Their faith grew stronger, without fail,
and kept them safe from harm.
Each summer eve, they pressed their love
into the golden sands
When looking down, the stars above
saw imprints of their hands.
For fifty years the two enjoyed,
a life so many yearn
Their love arrived to fill a void
and gave much in return.
While now alone, his love endures
through memories within
Of heartfelt moments sweet and pure,
shared with his dearest, Lynn.
