When I look back upon the days
That you and I have shared
I know I’ll count the many ways
You showed me that you cared
The love you gave to those you knew
Always came from your heart
And, though, your earthen time is through
Your spirit shall not part.

So many times, you stepped aside
As others took the lead
But through it all, you kept your pride
You were a friend, indeed
An angel that God sent to show
The wonder of His earth
And thanks to you, I’ve come to know
This world for all its worth.

When I look back, I will not see
Your passing as goodbye
You’ve given us your legacy
To have, when day is nigh
Rest now, in peace, my precious friend
Yet, know this much is true
Until I reach my lifetime’s end
I will remember you.
