Broken Heart

A poem about helping a friend through a difficult time.

Saturday, February 17, 2007

I cannot mend the broken heart
Beating inside your chest
Nor would I know where I should start
To prove your life is blessed
But, rest assured that I am here
A friend, faithful and true
For while this lifetime brings a tear
My weight shall carry you.

I understand your heart is now
Two halves, where once was whole
And I doubt I could figure how
To bring peace to your soul
But, I will lend a trusted ear
To ease your grief and pain
While keeping you forever near
‘til you are strong again.

I cannot mend the broken heart
That you have come to know
Nor can I make the clouds depart
When winds of sorrow blow
Yet, while I cannot calm the sea
Or make your burdens end
Beside you, I will always be
Because you are my friend.

This is lovely Jill. This is why unconditional love, agape love, and faith are our God given mission to share! Thank you for this one.

Friendship can be one of the strongest assets a person can have, sadly lovers, and even spouses can and do come and go and leave an empty space but a friend, a true friend, never really ever leaves.

I understand well the meaning of this powerful write. I know it must be a blessing to have a friend that cares enough to put these healing words on paper.
