If ever should there come a day
When we must say goodbye
I know that I would turn away
To hide the tears I'd cry
Because of you, my soul has grown
To meet each challenge faced
Therefore, these moments we have known
Could never be erased.

If ever should our pathways part
Please know that you will be
Forever kept within my heart
And in each memory
The sands of time that we have shared
Would live beyond adieu
For if I thought of those who cared
I know I'd think of you.

If ever should there come a time
When we must say farewell
I will look forward to your climb
Upon Heaven’s stairwell
A life-long friendship, such as ours
Shall last beyond the deep
For should my heart rest with the stars
My soul, I pray you’ll keep.
