Walk Towards the Light

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem I wrote as a bereavement verse.

Poem Artwork

My dear, I’ve found my golden wings
And left my earthen home
But, in the grief my passing brings
Please know my heart shall roam
Across the brilliant skies of blue
On billowed clouds of white
For though, my worldly time is through
The coming days look bright.

I can no longer feel the pain
I knew, not long ago
My struggle was not fought in vain
I’ve reached a new plateau
I have conquered the ups and downs
I’ve no burdens to face
As I explore these hallowed grounds
God tenders with His grace.

My dear, I’ve found my golden wings
And traveled to the sky
But, in the grief my passing brings
Know this is not goodbye
I will be waiting here for you
On billowed clouds of white
Until your worldly time is through
And you walk towards the light.
