Song Within Your Heart

A fictional poem to honor a retired or retiring musician.

Poem Artwork

I hear the song within your heart
In every verse of rhyme
Each one, a priceless work of art
To stand the test of time
Your lyrics speak of love and hope
Of freedom and of fate
Granting the needed strength to cope
When challenges are great.

The harmony within your soul
Pours onto every page
Allowing each void to be whole
Once touched by words so sage
The splendid gift that you possess
Is modest, yet sincere
Filling my world with happiness
As if your voice was near.

I hear the song within your heart
Amid each line and note
Of every treasured work of art
You envisioned and wrote
The melodies still echo now
From the amps of my tuner
Though, you’ve taken your final bow
You shall remain a crooner.

I didn't think musicians ever retired--unless their instruments are damaged by disease or accident. Guess that is why it is an occasion for your exquisite pen.
