Poem Artwork

An eerie calm appears ahead
As widening shadows speak of dread
Who knows what lies around the bend
A new start or maybe the end
The scene, a replay of years’ past
When doom befell each outline cast
Upon the path, some chose to stride
With no safe place to run or hide.

I take the trail of those before
The souls claimed by death’s opened door
Many have said that I tempt fate
By walking, all alone, this late
Yet, in the midnight hour, I roam
No purpose or need to go home
I feel that I am wise and free
Prepared for whatever might be.

The trees once marked by moonlit glow
Now darkened, as the shadows grow
Yet, I continue on my way
Certain, I’ll see another day
The winds are hushed; the lake is still
What’s that? I hear an awful shrill
I turn, praying my feet will fly
Before it is my time to.......

Jill, I enjoyed reading this suspensful tale.
The shadows often bring trouble -- I try and
walk in the Light whenever possible. Smiling

Yes death can be a scary place
Especially if you fall from grace

Been there quite a few times myself
Glad Jesus saved me and not an elf
