Storm

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about the weather conditions we have had in the Houston area, recently, and the hopefulness for sunny days to come.

Poem Artwork

A storm’s a’brewin’ o’er the hill
The sky’s alight in purple hue
Upon the breeze, a bitter chill
I’m certain hail is pushin’ through
The birds are strugglin’ just to fly
Across the rumblin’ of the blue
The rain keeps fallin;’ don’t know why
Darkness stays here within my view.

A storm’s a’brewin’ just ahead
Gray clouds are thicknin’ at the dawn
Loud thunder shook me from the bed
As lightnin’ briefly touched my lawn
High winds are swirlin’ like a top
They’re gainin’ speed as moments pass
Our power lines are sure to pop
Shatterin’ like crashed panes of glass.

A storm’s a’brewin’ o’er the bay
The sky’s as eerie as the night
Another rain, another day
This deluge has no end in sight
Red squirrels are hidin’ ‘neath the bush
They’re seekin’ refuge from the gale
Across our region, storm clouds push
But, in the end, sun will prevail.

Praying that you get some dry weather soon, your area has been in the news alot lately, the Lake Tahoe basin could have used some of that rain not long ago, with those fires, a great write as always
God Bless

Storms are enchanting... and unfortunately, sometimes dangerous.

RED Squirrels...Blimey, most of ours were attacked by northern american greys, in days of old. only on the isle of wight and remote areas can they be found.

Always love how no matter the subject you write, you always write with such gentle grace... Only you write such times, with such beauty...

Over here I've never seen such relentless rain and storms. And houses under water. Guess they'll drop the drought order....

I didn't do it either, Jill; but I think the StormSpinner did! Maybe she needs to write more about sunny days! LOL Sorry about the weather; hope it didn't ruin your Fourth of July plans! Perfect imagery and lines; very well done! BRAVA!

(((HUGS))) and hopin' for sunny days along with you, your friend in Burleson, Karen Lynn. :)

Jill,

I didn't dood it, spin the storm we've been plagued with for months! LOL Rain, rain, go aWAY...but then, again, when it does leave, all we'll do is whine about the lack of it. Always happens. Hope the wet conditions settle down for both of us: you capture the storm in perfect lines, and love the image. Well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

First, what a great picture and your pen is as vivid in every way.

Thanks,

Such beautiful imagery in this poem. I hope the sun shines soon for all those affected by these terrible storms.

Striking as the graphic this poem resonates like thunder in it's descriptive qualities of the storm.
