Poem Artwork

It does not seem so long ago
When I was in your class
Yet, seasons change as breezes blow
How quickly time does pass
There have been lessons I forgot
But, the main ones have stayed
In tribute to how well you taught
And the difference you made.

You watched o’er me for a brief time
And then, you set me free
So, I could start my earthly climb
Toward my own destiny
Looking across the world I’ve known
From my life’s stellar view
I realize I would not have grown
If I had not met you.

It does not seem so long ago
When I sat in a chair
Reaping the lessons you would sow
And the stories you’d share
I owe each dream I hold, this day
To you, and you alone
Therefore, I choose this time to say
Thanks for the love you've shown.

As a teacher, I cannot say how much it means when my students come back to see me, or write notes to say they appreciate me etc..i know that your poem brough great joy to these two teachers

Brilliant... You know, I've remained in touch with the teachers who changed my life. -I often remind teachers, having 5 in the family- how they can affect a persons life forever... You can blame Mr Winters for me being on here. I met him at college, he was my school master... "Young Mr Turner, what are you doing studying electronics, when your vocation is that of an actor, writer, journalist or even poet, you'll do well as ever but you'll never be happy." his words rung in my head for 20 yrs, then I had a chance to take a lump sum from work or stay there in military avionics designing... I ran with the money and have never looked back...For you know something Jill, one can make a difference by using writing as a member on the citizens panel for those tormented souls in need, or who have been treated badly by the govt, local or national...

so HATS OFF to great teachers, they can make a kid... As your's have you....

Beautiful write. There are certain teachers that I still remember with fondness because they took special time to help me learn. Knowledge is growth.
God Bless,
Lew

Our teachers, educational or people we meet along the way, seldom know the impact they've made in our lives. You remind me that I need to say "thank you" more often to those who have helped me in my journey.
