Witches flying ‘cross the night
Werewolves howling at the moon
Gremlins seize a wondrous sight
Halloween will be here soon
Jack-o-Lanterns are aglow
Scarecrows sway in autumn’s wind
Goblins wail, as shadows grow
Gloomier at every bend.
Black cats climb fences and cry
Skeletons dance ‘neath the stars
Monsters sing a lullaby
With the help of three guitars
Played by phantoms in a home
Vacant for centuries passed
No one sees them as they roam
Yet, their music serves to last.
Vampires and bats, alike
Search the sky to quench their thirst
Headless horsemen swiftly hike
From the source which left them cursed
Mummies, wrapped in ancient rags
Span the hills and lakes between
To place treats in children’s bags
In the name of Halloween.
