I am a phantom who takes to the wind
Every autumn season, near October’s end
I rise over mountains and cross over seas
Spanning the night skies, with the greatest of ease
I do not mean harm; my objective is clear
Whenever the Halloween season is near
My purpose is to remind you of the fun
Surrounding the season that has now begun.
I float over fields where great pumpkins abound
I smile at the scarecrows staked well in the ground
I bask ‘neath the beautiful light of the moon
While sharing the news, Halloween will be soon
To some, I’m a symbol of horror and fear
But, I long to make those beliefs disappear
By watching your children, as they trick-or-treat
From the beginning until the night’s complete.
I am a phantom who takes to the wind
Every autumn season, well wishes I send
To the little children who parade the streets
Longing for a bucketful of tasty treats
There’s no need to fear me for I am like you
A kind-hearted soul, spreading good, through and through
Although I’m a ghost, my kindness will be seen
Within every smile known on Halloween.
