The miles between us seem so long
And yet, our heartbeats remain strong
Each pounding in near perfect time
The rhythm of our blessed rhyme
Our bond is sweet and never lame
Sheer beauty that nothing could tame
In spite of what is meant to be
I’m thankful that you care for me.

I think of you when shadows fall
Doing so is not hard at all
You’re on my mind and in my soul
Although, distance is in control
I miss your smile; I miss your sigh
But, memories shall get me by
Until the day when you return
And I’ll no longer need to yearn.

The miles between us seem so hard
And yet, we’re blessed in that regard
The tougher times we know, right now
Will lead to brighter days somehow
Our heartbeats share a special tale
Of friendship, lasting without fail
Regardless of our chosen fate
I’ll always say you’re worth the wait.
