I miss your style; I miss your glow
I miss the smile I used to know
I miss your eyes; I miss your touch
I miss your laughter, oh so much
I miss your glory and your grace
I miss the warmth of your embrace
I miss the joy; I miss the light
I miss the comfort, late at night.
I miss the sky, once brilliant blue
I miss the coolness of the dew
I miss our mornings by the coast
Of all the things, I miss them most
I miss the beauty, wild and free
I miss the ways you cared for me
I miss the moon; I miss the stars
I miss the days we had as ours.
I miss your heart; I miss your love
As you look earthbound, from above
I miss the normalcy at home
Now that Heaven is where you roam
I miss the years I spent with you
How quickly all the moments flew
And, still in missing you, I find
Peace with the life you’ve left behind.
I know I’ll not miss you for long
One day, in time, I’ll hear our song
Echoed across the gentle breeze
A song of hope and life at ease
Soon after, I will see your face
As I come to this joyous place
And reunite for all of time
Atop these golden stairs you’ve climbed.

I'm on a short calendar regarding life right now, so I appreciate even more the grace and insight of your words. I have two beautiful daughters that I love totally and without reservation. And when my time comes to pass on, if they were inclined to write such tender words about our relationship, I would be smiling down from heaven with a heart filled with a father's pride.
In "These Golden Stairs" you have honored your father with a lasting and truly classic expression of love in its finest hour.
God bless you, Jill Eisnaugle.

I'm so sorry - oh, hate to hear this - too young! And yet, in the midst of your grief, you pen a beautiful, lasting eulogy to him - well done.
