Beacon of Love

by Jill Eisnaugle — Read all 611 poems by Jill Eisnaugle

A poem about losing your way and letting love bring you home again.

To Nate, thanks for being my "light."

Wednesday, July 30, 2008

A lonely vessel lost at sea
So aimlessly did roam
Adrift for all eternity
Without a loving home
Remorseful waves battered the core
This wayward ship was broken
Destined to float without an oar
Its fate seemed all but spoken.

A vessel trapped amid the waves
Can only stand so much
Battered hulls lead to early graves
When far from human touch
Alas, the sea so often claims
The weary and the weak
But, sometimes, hope freely exclaims
“I shall find all I seek.”

And find its course, the vessel would
Thanks to a brilliant light
Outstretched from where a lighthouse stood
To guide the soul through fright
A signal marking better times
As sent from high above
A man whose knack is writing rhymes
Is my beacon of love.
