Hungry Sean, The Leprechaun

Hungry Sean, The Leprechaun!

On St. Patrick's Day,
So legends say,
The wee folk come around,
Sharing treasure and good luck,
If kindness they have found:

I woke to see a leprechaun
Sitting in my chair,
He said, “They call me’ Hungry Sean’.
It’s not polite to stare!”

“I ‘m feeling awfully hungry;
Could you make me a wee bite?
A hearty shamrock sandwich
Would fix me up just right!”

I hunted all around my house
For shamrocks and some bread,
Then I watched him as he took a knife
And made a shamrock spread!

With every bite of that green lunch,
His eyes grew brighter still,
His laugh rang out, and he licked his lips,
“I think I’ve had my fill!”

“Many thanks, my little friend!
I know I’m pretty bold,
But, I always like to pay my way:
I’ll share my pot of gold!”
