Smile Me A Rainbow

by Edie M. Batstone — Read all 134 poems by Edie M. Batstone

A genuine smile is not superficial, but builds and grows-a forever gift.

Smile Me A Rainbow!

Though flowers may be lovely,
With power to beguile,
None can match the rainbow
That shines out in a smile!

The bud begins to open,
Fed by laughing eyes,
That fill, and finally overflow,
Releasing all the ties
That hold in somber place,
The features of the face,
Making ample room
For the smile about to bloom;

It holds a special magic,
A miracle, in fact,
For no one who receives a smile
Can help but give one back;
Each smile becomes a vital part
Of a glowing bigger heart,
That beats with love, and opens wide
Revealing kindness there inside;

Its brilliant colours multiply,
With every kindness sown,
Reminding us that once we start,
We'll never be alone;
Our smile will never go away,
Its hopeful echoes dance and play;
Making sure its seeds abound—
Spreading rainbows all around!

Lovely uplifting words!
A gift we can freely give to anyone…

I remember a smile an older lady gave me
as I was walking in our City Centre…
No reason…just kindness…
At that time I was estranged from my Mother..
and hurting…
and that smile was so needed,,,
It truly touched my heart that day and I have
never forgotten it…That’s how powerful a
simple smile can be…
