He looked into her eyes with longing;
Tears gripped his very soul
A voice was screaming in his head,
Don't love me then you 'll stay.

He did not make a sound
Not even a tiny whimper.
Don't love me, my Darling, 
And then he walked away.

She did not understand;
She thought it all a joke,
She knew the ride would end someday;
This surely must be the day.

Neither understood the other
As the  hurt kept rushing in
He asked her why she wouldn't see him
She said because she loved him and wouldn't ask for more.

Then he knew her love was real;
She would certainly stay.
When he made his pledge of timeless love,
She knew he was a keeper.

The strangling fear was gone at last;
The hole in his heart was healed
Finally the two were forever bound,
By undying, unending love.
