Wings of memory flutter amidst my eyes
shielding future chances of new beginnings
I hold on to love's last murmurings

Awaken once more, my love
to those sweet moments of cherished bliss
those blessed nights of a long shared kiss
arouse your mind to the toasts to us two
to the yearnings that only we knew

Do I still wait in hope?
wieling away as I grope
for those memories
to affect you , as they do me
waiting for a wisp of us
to awaken you to our reality

The bond of love should never be broken
it's foundation should never be shaken
yet still, selfish chances are taken

Stealing away precious fragments
of something that time itself has sealed
leaving hurtful wounds open, unhealed

How do I rouse you?
to the first undying love
you pledged in youth?
can I once more awaken
what was once our truth?
I will exhaust myself in my effort
to re-awaken love in your heart
For, you promised til death us do part

Never give up, Denise; but the love you awaken may well not be with the one you thought. I can relate well to your emotive creation. Thank you for sharing it. Love and peace to you. Regis
