Stranger things have happened!

The autumn air was crisp and cold
As villagers raised cider mugs
Young lovers walked
The elders talked
Of Halloweens before

Young Ella kissed for the first time
Behind the corn stalks out of sight
She gave her prize
To pleading eyes
Seen by her nevermore

The coming year brought tears and fear
The villagers would whisper low
Each time she'd walk
They'd always talk
About "the little whore"

A nearby lake always brought peace
To Ella when things on her mind
Would get her down
She donned her gown
And wandered to the shore

She never did come back they say
Some say she walked into the lake
But she is seen
Each Halloween
Some say its just a lore

Young man was found with holes for eyes
It seemed he was upon his knees
Those pleading eyes
Won't plead again
