His role, he knew was hard to fill
from mother's loving ways
though father did the best he could
at birth-his heart did stay
He looked upon the mother's side
and gazed upon her bed
bewildered with his new found babe
Now...father's eyes were red
Like birds, he thought of only love
and ways to build his nest
Though now, he had one more to feed
His life had now been blessed
A father's shoes, now worn with age
and lines upon his face
He truly gave his role...his all
His child-he did grace...
