The Omnipresent

by Antoinette Kopperfield — Read all 219 poems by Antoinette Kopperfield

Saturday, January 1, 2005

A new year dream-awoken by tides
Left falling, falling..beneath the ocean
Swept by souls...scattered
Cries for help go unnoticed
Until a light takes each...one by one

Peace only known by the dead
Sifted and sorted by founders
Wanted by all...but found by none
And yet...faded glimpses in storybooks

Fast, furious-it is not yet over
For the wrath never settles
Until once we succumb
To our own humanities blight

I, oblivious to my own pain
Feel for her children
The lost, the loved-the broken
Sad, yet true ...when nature strikes
And yet...it is our mountains
Who know the truth about love

They see all...they know all
Peaks between shadows of clouds
The great one resides in them
And yet...he is all-powerful
He knows-what we do not know
He is the omnipresent...
