Withered clotheslines
once held garmets
pristine with vibrant colors
and checkerboard tablecloths
Tree stumps no longer
hold swings
with lover's arms
or children with dreams.
Strawberry patches
are picked over
and I once
held succulence
at my fingertips
Grey skies
are still the same
Clouds which are bursting
with drops
that are held
until the right moment
and then it rains...
It is now that I long
for the sunshine
part of my youth
where nothing mattered
and I danced
until nightfall...
Those were the times
that I skipped with joy
and I hopped with abundance
for the pages of my life
were seeded with love...
