You cannot just buy your golden wings
I got mine from heartaches and pain
I was walking amongst the clear blue skies
while feeling the drudges of shame
God gave them when I sat there praying
at times when I lost all my hope
I only saw the face of despair
and chose it when I could not cope
My life has been like a shattered dream
That most people would have ended
They just could not take the ups and downs
while their souls had been apprehended
I do not wish that you live my life
feeling all of the sorrow and strife
I hope you will find the gift of love
and not feel alone in the night
You just bundle up your burdens
and you keep looking up to the sky
and one day you'll find your golden wings
and you'll feel as though you can fly
