Father, Let Me Feel My Heartbeat Just One More Time

by Antoinette Kopperfield — Read all 219 poems by Antoinette Kopperfield

Oh, let me see the green grass
Just one more time
And let me hear the music-
In my ears

Oh, let me see the willows
As they lie amongst the meadows
As I see my life before me-
In my tears

Oh, let me see the sun
Tomorrow morning as I wake
And let me tell that I love them-
One more time

Let me see the sunlight glisten
As it shines upon the lake
And let me hear the church bells ringing-
As they chime

Oh, Father let me hear the whistles of the trains
As they pass by
And let me see the children playing-
In the park

Oh, let me see the vibrant colors-of the rainbows
In the sky
And let me feel the healthy beating of my heart

Oh, Father if you have to take me-
Before I do all this
Then I shall give you thanks. Before I do depart
