When All Else Has Failed

by Antoinette Kopperfield — Read all 219 poems by Antoinette Kopperfield

Tuesday, March 2, 2004

Star-fires in the night
have given me many reasons
to share his vast love
upon souls weak from toil
and minds weak from pain

I see glimpses of solitude
as it stands before peace
and I desire to know more
about the creator’s passion
and his reasons for love

He walks upon stones
when our hearts are troubled
and he cries with sadness
when men spare no blades
upon our earth’s sacred soil

I…like you, am a sandman
for I walk with mere grains
of our eternity’s future
and I crumble fast
when I am wet with hatred

I, too...long for his arms
to patch up old wounds
They are left behind as scars
on our faces, old with wrinkles
and our bodies with broken-down bones

I…. am a new life
for I have given him myself
It is a crown upon his glory
and a present upon his heart
When all else has failed…
