A chill was in the air as I walked my miles.
Staring skyward seeing her smile.
Wisps of vapor fog my mind.
I can’t believe I’ve been left behind.
Walk faster to break the chill!
Immersed in thought of love’s poetic thrill
I marvel at life’s complex simplicity.
I basked in the night’s tranquility.
Alone with just my thoughts
Neither borrowed or bought.
Beads of cool reflections cover my skin
I would succumb to her over and over again.
Her smile mesmerizes me as I stand
In this fog of life.
Just a chill in the air; not pain nor strife.
I hear her voice distant it seems
As stars across the night sky shed their beams.
The tentacles of the mists wrap eery around me
As if her hands, moving intertwined cloud all I see.
It brings me great joy to know she’s here
In a summer’s night chill I have no fear.
