Bars of Sand

Although the waves of life beat hard against us, we are protected.

I walk along the bars of sand

as the waves tumble recklessly

around me. The crests break across the

bars and fill the space to the beach

with calmer pools. The bars come

and go and each maintains its own

strength against the erosion the confronts

it with every footstep and every crashing wave.

There is a tranquility and a sense of power

as the ocean swirls as if in anger around my

feet. As the canvas of twilight is painted

on my day, the caps of white sand protrude

against the calming waters. What a serene place of

thought and reflection. Her fingers

interlaced with mine in silent repose as we

walk along the bars. The horizon is in

all its glory silhouetting our lives on the

canvas of life. The water is deep on each side

of the bar and we walk. Time is endless

in moments so surreal. Love breaks hard

the grains of sand and polishes them

into sparkling jewels. Your eyes speak

as the sunset steals away your sight.

No words are needed when you are surrounded

by such beauty and passion. The beckoning

colors cover the now mill pond beyond the bars

as if to say it is time to rest. My eyes never

leave yours as we bare ourselves to each other.

Our naked bodies transcend the dangers of the deep

while our naked thoughts give rise to the dusk.

Enchantments build memories in the sand as we

share each other. The bars protect our love against

the cruelty that exists in life. Glistening and satisfied

the waning heat of the beach gives us comfort

as we count the stars and make wishes for tomorrow. Sand

covered, I stand and look out into my ephemeral world

and thank God that the bars of sand protected me once

more.

The bars of sand sound like love. Love which enhances beauty and nature, while protecting you from ugliness.

God bless you. Kathy

Your images put me right there on the beach observing what you saw and felt as you internalized the beauty of the ocean and beach in a blending of love. Your descriptions are beautiful.

Very beautiful and very descriptive...like an artist painting on canvas. "Our naked bodies transcend the dangers of the deep while our naked thoughts give rise to the dusk." Just beautiful!
