What do I see upon closing my eyes?

What do I wish but for the surprise

of finding someone with the very same doors

that leads to a depth as vast as the shores

the very same depths that I have within

the very same doors, once closed, will open

for someone who knows of my secret place

that understands loss, knows love and knows grace

but afraid to unlock and open these doors

allow someone in to roam and explore

the remarkable world of my inner expanse

where I set my heart and my soul free to dance

and my mind conquers all that is set before me

albeit alone…unafraid…unhappy

praying that God or that Fate would soon send

someone to my doors, someone to open

those doors that are closed, that still remain locked

entrance to my heart, still guarded and blocked

can somehow be breached by one at the gate

that knows how to unlock…just don’t come too late

Now I’ve found someone with the very same doors

That opens to depths as vast as the shores

We both were afraid til we met in this place

we thought was our secret and our saving grace

Instead we have found our hearts are made whole

and a mate who can open the doors of our soul

So we open to them, what we’ve opened to few

and invite them simply our door to step through
