caps lock
word is always telling me
“capitalize the first word in every sentence”
and everybodies name
and places and blah blah blah
I know this
learned it in like kindergarten
this is not news to me
I do it because I want to
my choice
freedom of choice
but
why
why must I break the rules
this
rule
here’s the scoop
the first time I ever saw someone
besides e e cummings
not capitalize their name
was a friend of mine
and I asked her
why do you do that
she said that she felt it was a statement
of her belief in God and that by not
capitalizing her name she was paying
respect to her creator
cool fine I could understand that
I could even respect that
twisted though it seemed
and then
I came to writing a lot
and the issue came up for me
about
My name
what to do
how do I want My name out there
people will see it, people may come to know it
how do I want Me presented
and
I remembered my friend
but
my reasons are different
I decided
not
to cap my name
because
I’m not ready to cap yet
I’m still growing
learning
striving
to be the writer I want to be
my name shall stay lower case
until
the day I see fit
to upper case myself
till the day I
write something
worth
the respect
of
upper case
twisted
probably
most definitely odd
and a pain in the ass to boot
beings I have to fight friggin word
every
single
day
but it’s just a little reminder
hey
babe
you got a
long ways to go
keep
writing
just keep on writing
and who knows maybe
one day
I’ll get me some Caps
