picking my kids up
from daycare
o two years or so ago
and the owner
which happened to be a great friend
which happens to be a great friend now
says
I got an idea
lets start a book club
they’re all the rage
everyone’s doing em
and I thought hmmm ok
I’m in
and came up with
“Turning Pages Book Club”
wrote me up a newsletter
handed it out to twelve ladies
some friends some acquaintances
now
I can say after some 24 odd meetings
dear friends
yeah we’ve had our problems
but
damn we have a good time
pick a book any book read it
and
throw a party
always on a Friday night
lots of wine
lots of bitching
lots of laughing
some man bashing
some soul barring
yeah and we even talk about the book
rate it from one to ten
get a chance to slam it or whatever we feel
and yes I still write a newsletter
kinda like an InYourFace thing
go figure
been tempted to get me one of those
web sites
you know let the authors know
what we regular folk
really
think about their work
bet some of them might cringe
or
maybe even get a laugh
anyway
what I wanted to say
is
ladies
you rock
look forward to hanging
look forward to catching up
listening to What Is Up With You
glad
we do this thing
and hey reading a book a month
never
hurt
nobody
even if half of you never get it read
ok well a third of you
ha
gotta get
time
for
a
meeting of the “Turning Pages Book Club”
and
a
damn good reason
to
tie one on
