You Didn't Read the Leaving

If, you are only there, when there is no other place to go, which there always is, this is why you weren't there to read the leaving in her eyes, in her heart...

You didn’t read the leaving
In her eyes

The shattered dreams
You told her would come
True
in the dead of night

For

You were to busy
Chasing those dreams
Sharing with everyone
Else
the secrets, what’s
On your mind

Even disclosing
Thoughts of her
Heart
Believing only
between
You~n~Her
The walls
Shadowed
with
Morning
Twilight

You were too busy entertaining
Your world of friends
Instead of sharing time
With her
Alone way to long
To many hours
With only a t.v
Enclosed with
Prison Walls

Every day you made it
Stronger for the leaving
To be there'
tugging at her
to breathe the
outside
air

Yep
You weren’t there
Enough to read the loss

The flame of life
In her step
Waiting for the moment
To break out
You just didn’t see
It coming
The beginning of the
Leaving

But
would you have done
Something
to undo what
Went wrong
To make sure what
You were doing is not the
Path to journey on
when you tell them
You love them
Yet you leave them
So much alone

Don’t you think
As you build these
Steps to help her
Step out on

Somewhere out there
May be a someone
Who is waiting to
Entertain the laughter
You have shut out so long

To make her eyes glitter
With the prance of
A wanted lover
Dancing the evening away
Proud to have in his
Arms thank God not in
Someone else’s

Only to smile the
Next break of twilight to
Start a new day
Knowing what he is
Going to come home

What does it take there
Sir
You really are a little dense
Or just plain blind
What is it going to take
For you to see
What others have seen for
So many moons ago

That the
Reading of the leaving
Has been there
For quiet some time
You really have no
Clue

He’s making it his
Goal
To make sure she is
first on his mind
No matter what the
Hours bring

If someone hurts her
He’s there to stand on
Her side
To find out what’s the
Truth, what a lie, she
is the entertainment
of his life

If you look real close
You’ll find some have
Followed your footsteps
The way you treat
“the love of your life”

With deliberate intentions
Of pushing her aside

He has made it his goal
to give a part
Of his heart when tears fell
Even over the silliest things

Drops that
You never saw

For you were never there
To read the leaving in
Her eyes

Didn’t you feel it
When at night
The only thing on her
Mind
What will be the next
Alibi when you
Head out the door

Not taking her with you

I don’t’ know what to tell
You pal
You have to be there
To make sure
You never
Read
The
Leaving
In
Her
Eyes
