It has been so long ago since I first laid my eyes on Ann that it seems almost like a dream. The only reason I know it is not a dream is the fact that we are still together after almost thirty-seven years. With three kids who are now grown and five grandchildren I can rest assured that if this is a dream it has lasted a long, long time.
Valentines Day is coming. This is my Valentine to Ann and to you.

I gave my heart and soul to her that day.
My heart broke when she turned away.

I could not let go for my love was strong.
A love like this could not be wrong.

I tried to impress her with conversation
But alas my attempts lead to devastation.

I prayed to God for the right words to say.
I needed to know what would make her stay.

Words are cheap I began to understand.
They come and pass by but rarely land.

I stopped the talk and simply paid attention
To her wants, needs and fears of life’s devastation.

Then in silence we both came to know
That our hearts belonged to one another where ever we go.

We found that love can be silent and yet super powerful
When two people join to become one in body and soul.
