I looked across a crowded room and what did I see?

I saw a strange face but somehow familiar to me.

I walked across the room and asked you to dance.

Love did not sneak up on me nor did it storm in by chance.

Yet I fell and in falling I was filled with a thrill.

Though I knew you not at all I was in love with you still.

What joy when you accepted my offer to dance and romance.

How wondrous would my future be and it started with a dance.

It is thirty-eight years now that have past and we still know love.

This is a love that we know was engineered by God up above.

There have been good times and times not so good throughout each year.

But one thing I know is I am still fulfilled as I hold you near.

You have been my sunshine when the sun did not shine and skies were gray.

You have been a source of light to brighten my spirits through the darkest of day.

Today I thank you and renew my vow of eternal love to you for ever more.

If you are by my side I will face with great pride what’re life has in store.
