Overcoming abuse by words.

Thursday, August 30, 2001

Your words...

like termites
work themselves into my mind
infiltrate
the structural foundation
of my confidence
boring passageways
gnawing
gouging
eating away my courage
weakening inner strength
endurance.

When you finally worm yourself away
and into someone else
I am released
totally destroyed.

My trust in humans shattered
Were it not for love.

If people knew the effect of their words on people they would more discreet when they speak; the effect of words linger even when the action has been healed by passage of time.Keep it up.

What words we need to hear are true words, caring words, nice words, friendly words, loving words, saving words, and hopeful words, many more words too all of them uplifting.

It's true that words can be like daggers and rip someone inner strength:your poem is about destruction and vulnerability. But there's hope:love...lovely poem. Anne pawlak.
