Overwhelming peer influence applies
Associated dogma and subtle lies,
To be held as conviction of “truth,”
Suspend disbelief in adult or youth.

Monstrous subterfuge, left intact,
Supernatural “truth” told for fact,
Cripples capacity for thought,
Yet said to be solution sought.

Yes, religion dulls imagination’s sword
(so richly evolution empowered)
Lest that second edge dare impress
Painful quandaries on consciousness!
