Soul Mate
To all who believe in love that never dies
In the beginning the rain sprinkles
Onto the mountain tops.
The infancy of existence
Begins for a fragile soul.
Knowing no one
Knowing nothing
In the beginning
Of the journey.
Lives trickle down the mountain
Occasionally pooling
In canyons and valleys
Dammed at the mouth
Until the dam is breached
And lives and other souls
Merge into rivers
To gouge new canyons and valleys.
On the endless journey
Through experience
Time and time again
Pooling and flowing
Toward the eternal goal,
The pinnacle of existence
Knowledge, joy, happiness
And, finally, complete peace.
Families are born.
Love and pain flow
Into each river from
Other tributaries
During the journey.
And, after countless pools and rivers,
All souls reach the Sea Of Life
Where they merge and share
The mistakes and successes.
All the great accomplishments
Of the few
And the terrible errors
Of the many.
Then the cycle begins again.
As millennia pass
The ocean evaporates
Taking some souls with it
And the rain sprinkles
Onto the mountain tops again.
Over and over and over
The cycle occurs.
For centuries upon centuries
But a blink in time for the Gods.
Of all the billions and billions
Of souls ebbing and flowing and learning
Some are linked for eternity.
To traverse the same rivers forever.
It is kismet.
It is fate.
It is destiny.
It is perfect.
And through all the journeys
Through all the pain
And heartbreak and joy
And unspeakable turmoil
These fortunate chosen ones
Are destined to travel together
Each time the rain sprinkles
And flows and pools and flows again.
They are destined to reach
The Sea Of Life together.
Each time a little wiser
Each time a little more at peace.
Each time a little closer to the eternal goal
But forever and ever together.
