To all who hate bigotry

Imagine the monstrous courage it took
To board the busses without Uncle Sam
To defend their lives and go by the book
When they disembarked in Birmingham.

They understood the likely result
Yet they mustered the stuff to board and ride
Knowing theirs was a righteous cult
Their heads held high with justified pride.
Those people whose time in history called
For commitment to stand against all odds
Hoping news viewers would be appalled
And cry, “Equality under all Gods.”

We know night is dark and day is light.
No price is too great if the cause is right.
