Cushion Of Dreams

One of the first poems I ever wrote.

Climbing the ladder of life was my goal.
To the top of the world. (Success and gold)
Careful not to fall, but sometimes I stumble
a rung shattered, my spirit in trouble.
I drop through the air and float, it seems
then tumble into my cushion of dreams.
I lie there until my will becomes strong.
Then start back up that ladder, so long.
I keep on hoping I’ll reach the top.
Before it’s too late and I have to stop.
For someday I might come tumbling down
and my cushion of dreams will not be found.
Oh, sadness to think what might happen then.
My heart will sink. My world will end.
Without those dreams there’s nothing at all
to save my life and cushion my fall.
So dream on dreamers and steadily climb
to reach the top while you still have the time.
I like the contents, the rhythm and the message in "Cushion Of Dreams".
In admiration,
