Sailing On The "Dreamland"

by Charles Keller — Read all 159 poems by Charles Keller

My sailboat will be named "Dreamland" after the poem of the same name. It is a fantasy I hope to realize.

Monday, October 9, 2006

The "Dreamland" Ketch eases slowly away
from the dock where she has rested all day.
Ripples move outward as the bow slides through
still waters in the harbor, clear and blue.

Her engine moans low and pushes her through
the crystal clear water, transparent blue.
Captain at the wheel, first mate at his side
pushing their way through the incoming tide.

Breaking free from the harbor's quiet hold
the two lovers let all the sails unfold.
Filling with the breeze, they billow and pull
"Dreamland" slides easily. Spirits are full.

Hours to feel the wind on their faces
leave two lovers in wide open spaces.
Clothes are discarded, the sun on their skin
warm and relaxing, oh they've never been

so open and free. Auto pilot set,
due east the course. They've wished since they first met
for days like this. Beyond civilized eyes
alone, naked; sailing under clear skies.

Crackers and cheese and red wine from below
spread like a feast on a table, just so.
Feeding each other and sipping sweet wine
he says "I'm yours" and she answers "you're mine."

Desire is building beyond all control
as gentle waves cause the "Dreamland" to roll.
Swaying with motion so rhythmic and slow
he leans in to kiss her and whispers low

"Your beauty leaves me breathless and wanting
to caress you. Those blue eyes are haunting."
A fingertip reaches, stroking her hair.
Her eyes close, she trembles, emotions bare.

With electric shock their lips gently touch.
Pulses are racing, her desire is such
a driving force, almost out of control
as the waves again cause "Dreamland" to roll.

The motion is perfect, breasts against chest.
Lovers embracing with exquisite zest.
Each building wild fires, their passions explode
again and again they travel love's road.

The sky is a rainbow, day turns to night.
And each starts to wonder if their heart might
burst from such intense and wonderful love.
A million stars twinkle high up above.

As "Dreamland" cruises across the vast sea
their course planned ahead remains clear and free.
Holding each other the two lovers sleep
and dream of each other, love is so deep.

The captain awakens his first mate so
sweet with kisses, touches, whispers so low.
Passions are building again so they seek
Other explosions. This trip takes a week.

Is there room for a stow-away on that ship? Sweet romance that rocks with the rhythm and power of the eternal sea. Very nice write, Chuck.
Take care,
Sherry
