Swimming in a heated pool, tempted so
to soak up such warmth, hot passions to know.
Spending time better spent elsewhere doing
more fruitful things. Enjoying yet knowing
the eventual outcome, preordained.
Earthquakes, volcanoes spewing and trembling
pebbles, ash and turmoil constantly rained
for a time until, winter resembling
brought the pure white snows and glistening ice
to coat the rumbling mountain, to calm things
for a season of peace, quietly nice
until thaws flow down and the bluebird sings
revealing a frozen heart long thought dead
which beats again, pumping away the dread.
