A driftwood fire burns in a shallow pit of sand
crackling as glowing sparks pop and soar.
There is a crimson glow of passion
on the faces of the eager lovers
as they sip champagne from
a shared crystal glass
and gaze into
eyes

to fill a space too long empty.
