The Diamond

A distant twinkling caught my eye
as I wandered so aimlessly
through the desert and the sky
seeking fantasy so shamelessly.
I soar each night through the air
over deep oceans and mountains so high
caressing a cheek or stroking soft hair
as I drop in on dreams by and by.
When curtains sway in the gentle breeze
and you wake with that magical feeling
that someone or something touched you with ease,
and tingling lips or a head that is reeling,
I may have visited during the night.
That distant twinkling that caught my eye
turned out to be a diamond's light.
A diamond in a field of stones, Oh my!
Each facet perfection! Such depth I see.
She's one in a billion. Filled with glittering
brilliance. And at the top of the clarity
scale. My heart was filled with flittering,
fluttering butterflies as I reached for her,
Exploring the deepest part as she slumbered there.
Her eyes moved under eyelids and I heard her purr
as I hovered above her and stroked her hair.
Then I woke up and it was back to the "real"
but I shall return in tomorrow's wee hours
of the morning. I can't control or conceal
this pounding heart under her powers.
Seeking fantasy so shamelessly
through the desert and the sky
as I wandered so aimlessly
a distant twinkle caught my eye.
Seeking beyond what we know for a sublime state that twinkles diamond-like. This poem spoke to me. Love-ly, Chuck! Cudos.
