Eternal Love (A Sonnet)


I wonder what my final thought will be
As my struggling heart ceases pumping life
What sight will be the last my eyes will see?
When peaceful slumber overtakes all strife
If only you could see how truly you
Breathe life into these lungs and my soul too

If your blue eyes are in my line of sight
Just one last happy smile my lips will form
And as my life’s light turns to endless night
When death’s calm soothes and fin’ly ends the storm
My spirit rises peacefully above
I hope you’ll know about eternal love

I’ll wait behind the moon for you someday
So two soul mates again can love and play
