Lovelight of my life,
the clouds of evening
parted pink-orange
luminescence bright
to reveal in
the blue-black depths
pinpoints gold-white,
sparkling god-fire
of a moonlit starry night.
Moonlit starry night,
dreams of you
that won't let me go,
dreams of you
from so long ago
on a moonlit starry starry night .
The haunting coo
of the night dove,
the stirring cool of dark,
the dwelling ache of heart,
the draw of your arms,
brings back your face,
surreal in the dim
reflected white
of a moonlit starry night.
The love of your smile
coming back to me
on a moonlit starry night,
it won't let me go,
no, it won't let me go,
whether restless sleep,
or warmth in the glow
of a moonlit starry night,
lovelight of my life.
What is more fulfilling than be with a loved one on a moonlit starry night? The enchanting smile, that lovelight in the eyes, everything! They will always stay within your heart. Beautifully penned. The message surely got across. Thank you for sharing.
Whew this poem has surround sound and the word themselves are 3-D with their crisp placing throughout the work. What's greater is the narrator can't seem to let go but images of his love's smile and face keep coming back and this gives the poem a swing motion. Almost as if two lovers were in swing under a starry night. All around Incredible painting of being in love's abyss. Keep up the great creations!
Jerry, I think this is the most 'poetic' of all your poems. You've used such beautiful imagery here: the clouds of evening parted pink-orange, and the stirring cool of dark. Simply lovely.
