This is a rant I must confess I'm tired of cultural duress This world sadly lacks love No not sex, there's plenty of I'm talking about romance Dinner ,flowers, and a dance The kind that tickles the heart Not just the favorite genital parts Wine, Dine, good conversation Before we undress for copulation I'm for relationships with kindness Sex with consensual fairmindedness I'm so tired of books films and TV Only sordid sex and violence we see So many people scoff at poetry The only venue left for harmony Methinks the poets should arise Let the love shine through our eyes To blind the purveyors of negativity And once again set romance free!
Let us form an Army Of Universal harmony!

Yes, Dear Eileen,
I believe that the modern media (TV, magazines, etc.) have only served to desensitize the general public as to what real intimate relations are all about. There is tremendous joy in fulfilling our own fantasies rather than following those who have not yet realized their own imaginings. In this context, the joy of romance is easier said than done.
i totally agree with the premise of this poem ... yet passion and love are not absent within this world just hidden from those who are insensitive and impassioned by the fruits of being alive ... it seems the poets entertain the lead court on this one ...
I understand that a very famous and virgin spinster missionary (can't recall which one, though, sadly) was said to have understood the meaning of true and Godly passion through "the work of poets and artists, who get there first in terms of their understanding of what love is". It would be soooooooooo nice to get back to being wooed instead of rude!! :)) A wave of NeoRomantics is what we need... Culturally, the world seems intent on stamping out such sentimentality, but as life gets tougher often art gets "softer". Think we're all with you on this one, Eileen. Love, Kate xx
Eileen, you've wrote a poem today about something I was going to use as a topic for one of my writes. What has happen to good old fashion romance. Yes, I feel just as you do! The world needs more sincere romance & what it is to feel courted in a wonderful world of true romance. The world today seems to think romance is sex, but I'm old fashioned and I love to be wined, dined, and romanced to the hilt. I loved this!! It is so true and a brilliant write.
Romance - dinner, wine, dance and my husband. What more could I ask for? Oh, yes, let's do add some poetry - for it will warm our hearts and say what others can say more beautifully than we about the love within our hearts.
Universal harmony - from romantic poetry. Can't write it, but will carry the paper and pens for this army.
Where do I sign up! I have been struggling with this for a very long time. Give peace, Love, and Light a chance! Yes, Way to Go!

I agree we have lost our innocence about love, sex and the opposite sex. We can blame it on the turbulant sixties which sprouted the "free love" seed. I'm no prude, I think everyone can attest to that, but I agree, Eileen, romance has been given over to the crass among us . . . Have I aided and abetted in this crassness? You bet. That doesn't make it right though, and that doesn't make me a hypocrite. I think we all aid and abet when we keep shelling out money for crude, no plot, no acting, no account, movies Follywood hurls at us. If you can't blow it up or rip clothes off or make the bad guys look good or demonize Christians it isn't worth making is their creed. We all, each and everyone of us have a basic human nature for crassness, but I agree that it has gone much too far and I believe this, if the terrorists don't destroy us, the lack of common sense, civility and the absence of love and its passion will. Good rant, kiddo . . .

Sounds like a good idea; Eileen, I, too, am tired of all the sex and violence that's often played out in movies or on the small screen. Sex has become a joke or something dirty; and the morals have gone by the wayside. God help us! Very well done; brava!

Three things: Instead of long marches - let's have long dances...
instead of KP, lets have fine catered meals...
instead of heavy scratchy uniforms, lets have our comfy jeans and tennies (oh, and tops too)...and
instead of having bivwacks, lets have big country B-B-Q and Hoedown!
This will get our eyes sparkling, feet tapping, comfy as can be...and good lose-weight exercises by dancing!! HaHa Where do we enlist??
You are so right with this one. Bring back the romance that so many have brushed aside and perhaps a world with love, respect and decency will again be the mold for future peace amongst all....

I have to agree...there is so much violence, and dialog has fallen by the wayside when front porches were moved to the back of the house and called a patio. Everything is instant something or other, and instant gratification...so there...a rant of my own. ROFL.

Rose petals and poems written on last year's dried pink pointsetta leaves on the bed - an erotic poem for each action - and then say thank you...kisses of quill-induced romance, Eileen...

In the Bible, as you know, it says that in the last days, "...the love of many will wax cold..." I believe it. Tragic. A clarion call to change hearts, beautifully penned. Well done.
