Thump In Then Thump Out
Hearts moving 60 beats a minute,
Count upward to 3600 beats per hour,
Adding up upon, 86,400 daily beats,
Onto each year’s 31,557,600 heartbeats.
At 70, we accumulate 2,209,032,000.
Wherein life, we use repetitive routines,
Doing 2,240,589,600 beats at 71.
Some beat, when first started up,
Will last a lifetime, onto a final stop.
We go off to habitual work habits,
We come back with work doldrums.
All revolve around this pivot point,
We call home sweet home.
Inhale, exhale.
Step here, step there,
All steps will lead - back to bed.
That in time, we travel vertical,
Then come to lie stationary - sleeping.
That we evolve around family,
We revolve amidst friends
That placemat bonds will be broken,
Only to call another place - home
Needle in, needle out.
Second in, second out.
Day in, day out.
Night in, night out.
Weekday in, weakday out.
Month in, month out.
Year in, year out.
Pricked skin, then heals.
Blood sample fed, results out.
Sit, to kneel down. and pray.
Knees hope, then stand up proud.
As Death does depart to some,
Birth Wills, wail anew breath,
To bring a baby - home.
Pills in, stay in.
Blood pressure pumps up, pumps down.
All water that rises, must eventually fall.
To and fro - life wanes and waxes,
The Moon ebbs, then flood tides.
New moon onto full moon,
Then full moon too new moon.
Tick to tock and tock too tick.
Teether to totter to teether
Back then forth, up and down.
While the Earth, goes one direction
Around this perennial perpetual world,
Where we call this special speck spot,
Our family – Home.
