I Was Given A Dream

by David Lester Young — Read all 1,103 poems by David Lester Young

It started with a title after waking up and vented as a poem. As an American Vietnam War Veteran I rant therapy to release frustrations, so if you are offended you have that RIGHT to use SHARPIE.

I Was Given A Dream

Sleeping alone
I was given a dream
To share with the world
Where my heartstrings dew
Sing a tune of love
In forget me knots

Sleeping alone
I was given a dream
Where thy eagles fly free
Butterflies dance with glee
Amongst songbirds soft melodies
Amid paradise meadow harmony

My soul Be this cradle with love
With peace doves all around me
My Eye beside Eye  adrift Tranquility
That this light rain mist of rainbows
Bee called America The Beautiful imagined
Oh God, Bless my dream, loom so deep inside
That thee seeks Too Bee Poet Tree fledgling
Feathered alight golden warm sun rap beams
That write daylight ‘n nighttime starlight fantasies
That quake the tears that swell up, rivers of joy.

This land be, my land, in our land
That must never Be Come - One Man conquered
Enrich the grain that started our America Dream
WE, as in all of US, must flourish united together
Though some be homeless, poor or be in poverty
They still can dream of better fairy tale futures
Why do some in power in elite elicit high places
Want US to have divisible untouchable castes
Must America become Avast Wasteland
Neigh says the stars spangled banner creed.

We are a nation of dreamer
We are a nation of miracles
We are a nation of diversity
We can freely take to One knee
We can in Free Speech Question
We share this Independent Constitution
We must fight against One man manifestoes
Who seeks to make this nation – their domain “
His or her own Master Crass Republic Nation

But alas Czar’s cannot control US
While We sleep in Civil Right Democracy
That China cannot even stop, what resides
Inside souls, cradling Freedom and Liberty
For when we sleep without mind control
We ride the currents as freed eagles
Soaring in updrafts rights amid insight flights
Never shackles nor chained cloned compliant
For here we bear no government redactions
No political pollution poison with SHAPIE pens
We have no Roundup of humanity - be weeds
For No SHARPIE can line out our very existence,

You sea the see shore of the tide’s RIP current
Wherein one can free flow, a wake ‘n ring burst
While not being, a poet pyre prisoner, in a WAKE
Awaiting depth knell, prisoner of rhyme be gone
Why. Oh why, was a Veteran Terminated for Poetry
That an American Vietnam word warrior did serve
American Guardian Be drafted Chess pawn picked
For in ever and in so much more, words dew reign
Within whorl winds baring tormenting tornadic fingers
That like Now out-loud pound thunder with elocution
OH America, Too Bee a poet redacted, over and under
That all one can think of is to be an improvable insight
What if  “I Was Given A Dream” then became a song
But in America people are split into Conservative Castes
To Be SHARPIE Conservative using Republic Redaction
Or Knots Too Bee Liberal Poet Dreamers being NUTS.
“Never Under Tyranny Surrender” - your American Dream

Note: This mind melt occurred on Sep 27, 2019 after a tenuous day in daydreaming. While it may be incoherent it was done on the fly, to keep the rant, venting forth frustration. This was edited once and may contain errors, for I have no SHARPIE,

A strong condemnation of the conservative viewpoint that is leading this country into stratified classes where people are no longer or, in the case of some classifications, unable to, maintain an equal standing in society as a citizen of the USA.

Hats off to your continually pointing out the hypocrisy of the action of conservative wealthy in trying to imprison and compartmentalize those thought, "inferior," like so many wounded by war without visible physical impairments.
